Manuel Belgrano

Manuel José Joaquín Heart of Jesus Belgrano was born in Buenos Aires on June 3, 1770, his mother was Doña Maria Josefa Gonzalez Casero and his father was Domingo Francisco Cayetano Belgrano Peri. Belgrano In 1786 he moved to Spain to complete his studies where he studied law at the University of Salamanca. In 1794, in Buenos Aires, he served as secretary of the newly established consulate.

Proposes teaching new techniques of planting and harvesting to the ranchers and farmers, to increase agricultural production and exports. Belgrano advised the opening of free schools for children in the city and in the campaign. The most striking feature of the plans Belgrano was his idea that girls should attend school. At that time, most people thought they had to stay home where they had to learn to read, write, sew and embroider.

Belgrano in 1806 founded a newspaper called "The Telegraph Companies." In 1810 he founded another newspaper called "The E-Commerce."

The First Board sent an armed expedition in order to achieve the submission of the Paraguayans to the dictates of Buenos Aires. At the command of the force is designated Belgrano. The campaign runs between September 1810 and March 1811. The fights were three, that of Campichuelo, which emerged victorious and those of Paraguarí and Tacuarí in which he was defeated.

in March 1812 by order of the Triumvirate Belgrano took command of the Northern Army. And he must face many problems in organizing the army, and not only reorganized the army also prepared the manufacture of munitions, the armament under a field hospital and food stores for the troops.

The site where General Belgrano hoisted the first flag, stands the National Monument to the flag in the city of Rosario. Although I read that the flag was not blue with white stripe but it was white with a blue stripe.

On June 20, 1820 in Buenos Aires Belgrano dies shortly after his 50th birthday.
